Three chalets, a different Chiang Mai rhythm

Mai Siam Resort is at 46 Moo 2, Ban Nong Hoi, in Mae On, Chiang Mai province. Its address matters: this is a rural stay outside Chiang Mai city, with countryside outings taking priority over walking between Old City sights. The official property overview describes three Thai-decorated chalets in tropical gardens, owned by Pranee and Eric. The small scale is one of its strongest distinguishing features.

A garden chalet here offers a more intimate setting than a large resort development. The appeal centres on accommodation, hosts and meals, with time to enjoy the grounds between excursions. For travellers choosing Mae On deliberately, that is a coherent proposition. Anyone whose itinerary depends on frequent city visits should settle transport arrangements before reserving.

What is inside the chalets

Oyster’s property inspection describes king beds, desks and outside seating, alongside mini-fridges, kettles and safes. Rooms have air conditioning and fans, and bathrooms have walk-in showers. These details suggest a practical room for returning from a day outside: somewhere to sit, keep a drink cool and make tea without having to leave immediately for another outing.

The same inspection describes garden hammocks and thatched salas, with the restaurant serving as an important social space. It identifies no swimming pool or gym. Those distinctions are useful when comparing Mai Siam with larger Chiang Mai resorts: the garden is part of the experience, but a pool afternoon should not be built into the plan. Confirm the facilities of the chalet offered for your dates.

Thai meals are a central attraction

The property describes a Thai restaurant and bar, with Pranee’s cooking featuring prominently in its presentation. Arrange evening dining with the hosts, particularly if you expect to eat on arrival. In a three-chalet rural property, agreeing dinner ahead is more useful than assuming the service pattern of a large hotel restaurant.

Food is also a consistent theme in dated guest accounts. Steve B, reporting an October 2025 visit, appreciated the plentiful breakfast and home-cooked curry, alongside a spacious room, comfortable bed, tea and coffee facilities, and the shower. He also liked the tropical garden and the location for visiting the cave and hot springs.

A garden stay with returning guests

Eric T described a fourth visit in January 2024, staying five nights. His account praised the garden rooms, breakfast and evening Thai dishes, as well as introductions to cooking and plants and advice about the surrounding area. Lauriane, who stayed in February 2025 and reviewed in January 2026, similarly highlighted clean, spacious accommodation, cooking and tranquil gardens.

These reports make the strongest case for a stay organised around the property itself. The recurring attractions are personal interaction, meals and green surroundings, rather than a long programme of on-site activities. The dates also help distinguish individual experiences from a guarantee about every future visit.

Plan the countryside logistics

The official services page lists free mountain bikes, motorbike rental, transfers, a Chiang Mai shuttle, tours, laundry and Wi-Fi. Ask which arrangements operate on your dates and which carry a fee. A listed shuttle does not establish an unrestricted timetable, and a transfer should be agreed before you rely on it for arrival.

Muang On Cave and Sankampaeng hot springs are relevant countryside outings. Mai Siam’s clearest fit is a traveller who wants a small garden base in Mae On, values Thai meals and welcomes host advice. Confirm dinner, transport and the booked chalet together; those three details shape the daily experience more directly than the broad Chiang Mai destination label.
