A base for the railway market
Hometown Hostel is listed at 459/2 Phet Samut Road, Mae Klong, Samut Songkhram, near Maeklong Railway Market. The address makes the railway market the natural focus of a stay here. It should not be confused with accommodation beside Amphawa floating market; the two experiences require separate planning.
A solo visitor’s Trip.com review dated 3 December 2025 estimated a walk of about five minutes from Maeklong station and said transport was needed for the floating market. That is a guest’s journey estimate rather than a measured walking guarantee. For anyone arriving by train with a backpack, it nevertheless gives a useful sense of the hostel’s town-centre role.
Dormitory or private room
Hostelworld describes air-conditioned six-person dormitories and private rooms for two, alongside lockers and shared hot showers. Its facilities description also includes a lounge, small garden, coffee shop and rooftop space. Travellers choosing a private room should still establish bathroom access rather than assume that privacy extends beyond the bedroom.
A Canadian guest who stayed in February 2024 liked the proximity to the railway and street markets, lockers, strong air conditioning, privacy curtains and rooftop. An American visitor in October 2019 also appreciated the curtains and pillow, and found the owner’s English helpful. These are individual accounts from different years, so the features of a particular bed should be checked against the room selected.
For dormitory users, a curtain can make a meaningful difference when reading or settling down at different times from roommates. It does not provide sound insulation. Light sleepers should weigh the value of a central market address against the realities of sharing a sleeping space; travellers who need a quieter routine can ask about private-room placement.

Shared space and food outside
A Trip.com guest reviewing on 26 February 2026 described clean rooms and a kind host, with street-food vendors and evening market activity immediately outside. The December 2025 visitor also noted dogs on the premises. These details help distinguish the setting: it is a place to engage with the town, and guests uncomfortable around dogs should discuss that point directly.
Trip.com lists a shared kitchen and public parking off site. The latter should not be read as a reserved hostel car park. Drivers need to establish where they can leave a vehicle and how luggage reaches the entrance. For a train-based visit, the central address may be a more relevant benefit than parking provision.
Plan the stay around the town
Hostelworld mentions bicycles for exploring the surrounding gardens, temples and river area. Treat that as something to arrange, with availability confirmed, rather than an included activity waiting for every guest. Consider whether cycling suits the day’s intended route and your comfort in local traffic before making it the basis of an excursion.
Breakfast arrangements and checkout times differ between platforms, so neither should be taken as settled by a general listing. Resolve them with the actual reservation, particularly if breakfast affects an early departure or you plan to leave bags after checking out. Hometown’s most convincing appeal is its market-area location and choice between dormitory and private accommodation. It is a practical candidate for travellers who want time in Mae Klong itself, with floating-market transport handled as a separate part of the itinerary.
