Choose Doi Saket deliberately
Baan Chai Thung Resort is at 208 Moo 4 in Choeng Doi, Doi Saket, outside Chiang Mai’s urban centre. Its attraction is the garden-and-villa setting, with a swimming pool and restaurant supporting time spent at the property. It makes sense to choose that location intentionally rather than treat it as interchangeable with a hotel inside Chiang Mai’s Old City.
The distinction affects the shape of a holiday. A guest who wants relaxed mornings and evenings at the accommodation may value the setting, while someone returning frequently to the city needs a workable transport plan. Decide how often you expect to travel before choosing the resort for an extended stay.
The villas are not all the same
The detailed room inventory describes air-conditioned villas with private balconies, refrigerators and en-suite shower facilities. The Superior Villa is larger and specifically lists indoor and outdoor showers. A Two-Bedroom Villa is listed with one bathroom, an important detail for two couples or a family comparing it with accommodation offering separate bathrooms.
A separate One-Bedroom House category lists a private entrance, seating and dining areas, and a kitchen with stovetop, refrigerator and kitchenware. That kitchen should not be assumed in every villa. If preparing meals matters, reserve the appropriate category and check the equipment rather than rely on a general description of villa accommodation.
The bungalow photographs also show steps at entrances. Ask about the actual route and booked building if anyone in your group has mobility limitations. A private balcony and an outdoor shower can be attractive features, but they are useful only when the whole layout works for the people sharing it.

Pool time and meals at the property
The facilities inventory includes an outdoor pool, garden, massage services and a chargeable airport shuttle. The restaurant is described as serving Thai and European food, with snacks and drinks available from the bar. Those facilities give guests options for spending an evening at the resort without making another journey into Chiang Mai.
Shirley’s report dated 26 May 2026 described a comfortable chalet with a veranda overlooking gardens and a lotus-covered lake. The guest praised fresh bread at breakfast, vegetarian choices for evening meals, the pool and helpful management. That is a particularly useful account for someone who expects the setting and restaurant to be part of the holiday.
Breakfast inclusion still depends on the reservation. A Trip.com family guest who stayed in a Superior Villa in September 2025, reviewing it on 27 October, liked the quiet surroundings and large room and said the owner offered breakfast even though it had not been included in the booking.
Guest details worth checking
A Trip.com couple’s report from a February 2023 stay described a spacious but cosy room and particularly enjoyed the outdoor shower, alongside the pool area and restaurant. A different guest who stayed in a Villa in November 2024 reported an uncomfortably cold room in a review posted on 29 January 2025. These are individual observations of particular accommodation, rather than a uniform verdict on every villa.
If the outdoor shower is a reason for booking, confirm that your category actually includes it. If temperature control is important, ask how the air conditioning works in the offered room. The variety of layouts makes those specific questions more useful than choosing solely from the resort’s general photographs.
Plan transport around a quieter base
Amira’s November 2025 report praised the peaceful location, helpful hosts and fresh breakfast, but recommended a car or bike because arranging transport through usual app-based methods could be difficult. That is a practical caution about using a rural base, not a promise that a particular transport service will always be unavailable.
Baan Chai Thung is strongest for travellers who want a villa, garden surroundings and meals or pool time at the property. Confirm the room layout, breakfast and airport arrangements, then decide how you will make your other journeys. That preparation allows the Doi Saket location to be a considered part of the stay.
